Why I did not count public-data anomalies as discoveries

The screens produced anomaly candidates. None survived as a verified new discovery.

I ran short searches across 2025–2026 biomedical data and reported limitations. Before expanding any candidate into a larger analysis, I checked public issue records, registries, prior work, and whether the underlying data could support the proposed question.

The first test came after the signal

A striking value was not enough. If the same issue had already been documented, or if provenance and study design could not carry the inference, I stopped the candidate before a long computation or manuscript cycle began.

Why the rejected candidates stay unnamed

Candidate logs, audit tables, an evidence package, and gate reports remain in the private record. They document why work ended; they are not scientific results. Publishing the topics or measurements could make an abandoned signal look like a finding, so this note leaves them out.

The useful result was a faster stopping rule. The number of screened ideas is activity, not an outcome.
